OBESITY NUMBERS: A Report Shows Number Of Obese Iowans

Some startling numbers on obesity were released Tuesday. 

According to a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 29-percent of Iowans are obese.

The south has the highest prevalence of adult obesity.  Mississippi is the worst, with about 35-percent of adults considered obese.

Colorado gets the best marks, with about 20-percent of obese adults.

There was a change in the way the data is collected for 2011, so the results this year can’t be compared to prior years.
