DROUGHT UPDATE: Recent Drought Report Released
It appears recent rain has helped ease the drought just slightly in Iowa.
The US Department of Agriculture and the National Weather Service put out the latest report Thursday. Now, 62-percent of the state is considered in extreme drought. That’s that area you here in red. It’s a drop of 7-percent from last week.
The rest of the state is considered in severe drought.
While there is a bit of relief in Iowa, other neighboring states aren’t as lucky.
In Nebraska and Kansas, more land has been added to the highest zone of “exceptional drought.”
