Fans of the Downtown Farmers Market are getting a mid-week treat as the second year of the Wednesday Farmers Market kicks off.
Fresh vegetables and fruit, specialty food, art and music will all be part of the market at the Western Gateway on Thirteenth Street between Grand Avenue and Locust Street in downtown Des Moines.
Organizers say the popularity of last year’s mid-week market caused them to make a few changes, making the market more accessible to downtown workers by starting earlier. The market runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They’ve also expanded their season by adding two more weeks.
Wednesday Farmers Markets are being held every Wednesday from August 22nd to October 17th.
