Governor Branstad was in Webster City Wednesday at the City Hall for a Town Hall Meeting on Education Reform.
The Governor outlined his plan to bring more leadership to school systems, and to help encourage excellent teachers to stay in education.
Governor Branstad cited his 8th grade History teacher as one who got him excited abuut learning, due to her passion she brought to teaching.
Several people raised ideas or concerns. Those included involving parents more in terms of accountability, using social workers to a great extent where some families need help, and looking at raising requirements for the amount of English, Math, and Science students must take.
The Governor will present his educational plan along with how it will be funded in his State of the State Address in January. He said he wants lawmakers to get right to work on this.
