ANIMAL CRUELTY: Teenager Arraigned Friday
An Urbandale teenager says he’s not guilty of animal cruelty due to the death of his dog.
Eighteen-year-old Luis Lara-Leyva is charged in the case. Police found the family’s one-year-old German shepherd dead in its kennel on June 29th.
Authorities say it died in the heat. It had no water and no shade.
An animal rights activist group meet outside the courthouse Friday morning during Lara-Leyva’s arraignment.
The judge scheduled a jury trial in the case for October 24th.
