Cell Phone

Travel could soon get a little easier for people flying out of Des Moines.

The FAA is forming a group to study how cell-phones and tablet computers could affect the controls of an airplane.

It’s part of a push to allow the use of the devices during the entire flight, including take-off and landing.

Iowans we talked with liked the idea, but say safety should come first.

Stan Landon said, “it would be nice, but if it does interfere, we shouldn’t use them.”

Paul Emerick added, “I can go without being on Facebook, Twitter, or surfing the web for a few hours. It doesn’t kill me.”

Garrett Reese said, “it’s good to get info back and forth, even while in flight. If there’s any way we can convince the FAA that it’s okay, that would be good with me.”
