HELPING HAND: Iowa Lineman Heads To Issac
More than two dozen Iowa Red Cross volunteers are on the front lines in the Southeastern part of the U.S. ready to assist those affected by Isaac.
Also there is a Quad Cities lineman, who is ready to restore power to the coast.
Steve Brooks is at a staging area in Daytona, Florida waiting for the storm to hit.
His wife, April, is tracing the storm’s progress from home. She says she keeps in constant contact with her husband.
She also keeps a close eye on the radar so they both know where the storm is heading.
April expects her husband to be gone at least two to three weeks. She said, “I worry for my husband and all the other line workers down there to just take it slow. Take your time, get the power turned back on, but you’ve gotta think of safety first.”
April says Steve is no newbie when it comes to responding to hurricanes. He was on scene when hurricane Irene barreled down the east coast a year ago.
