ENERGY PEAK: Ames Asks Residents To Conserve
The city of Ames is issuing a peak alert urging residents to be mindful of electric use.
The alert will remain in place throughout the day.
Authorities say demand is predicted to be high and conservation is most important between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
To reduce electric usage, residents should turn off any unnecessary electrical devices, close drapes and turn thermostats up three to five degrees.
Ames Electric Services will also use their Prime Time Power program Thursday, which cycles off the air-conditioners of participating customers for seven and a half minutes each half hour.
