WATCH PARTY: Romney Accepts GOP Nomination
People at the Mitt Romney campaign headquarters in Urbandale were in high spirits Thursday night.
Many are calling the governor’s acceptance as the republican nominee a “symbolic” event. But Governor Romney wasn’t always Iowa’s first choice. Now however, the tables have turned.
Gloria Mazza, a volunteer said, “We’re behind him 100 percent now, and Romney was always my first pick. So I’m partial to that but you can feel the energy here in the state behind him.”
Volunteers Thursday night not only gathered to watch Governor’s Romney’s acceptance speech, they were busy on the phones, calling for more support.
Organizers of the watch event say those volunteer numbers have significantly picked up since Paul Ryan was added to the ticket.
The goal of events like Thursday’s is to keep those numbers keep increasing in Iowa, regardless of how Mitt Romney got to this point.
Tom Szold, Communications Director for the Republican National Committee in Iowa said, “When everybody joins together like this, people can talk about what’s going on, people can share their thoughts about the race, we can get them involved.”
