ARMSTRONG ELEMENTARY: Students Honor Astronaut

The first man to walk on the moon was laid to rest Friday.  Neil Armstrong passed away last Saturday at the age of 82.

Iowa students attending Neil Armstrong Elementary School in Bettendorf spent the week learning about their school’s namesake.

The students put all their lessons together for a special school ceremony Friday.  The 5th graders presented a Powerpoint and the kindergartners sang a song.

The principal says the ceremony is a great way to ensure Neil Armstrong is more than just a name to them.

Principal Lisa Stevenson said, “It kind of gives us a little bit of social studies, a little bit of history, and I know they all see things on TV and now they can make connections between what we’re doing here in school and what they’re learning and seeing on TV.”
