The U.S. Marshals Service is asking for the public’s help to locate a convicted sex offender.

Twenty-nine-year-old Courtney Cortez Chestnut is wanted by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for a second violation of failing to register as a sex offender and escape.

The U.S. Marshals Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force says Chestnut frequents the south side, Drake, and Merle Hay neighborhoods in Des Moines.

He is described as a black male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is six-foot-two and 195 pounds and has tattoos on both arms.

Chestnut is considered dangerous and has a history of assault, sexual assault, and drug use.
