DRUNK BOATING: Arrests On The Rise

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is reporting a record number of drunken boating arrests.

As of Friday the DNR had ticketed 88 people for boating while intoxicated, just 54 people were ticketed during all of 2011.

Officials anticipate that number will only go up with many of Iowa’s waterways filled with boaters enjoying the holiday weekend.

The DNR says the increase is likely due to additional enforcement and more boaters on out on lakes and rivers.
