ROBBERY UPDATE: Two Juveniles Arrested

Des Moines Police have arrested two juveniles in connection with an attempted robbery near Warren Harding Middle School Friday Morning. 

Police say a middle school aged boy approached someone working in their yard, nearby the school around 8:45 a.m. The boy allegedly pulled out a gun, and demanded money. When the victim explained he didn’t have any money the boy walked away toward some other teenagers who appeared to be walking to school.

The victim notified police, the school implemented their incident procedures, but classes continued as usual. Police kept a heavy presence in and around the school to ensure the area was safe.

An Airsoft handgun was located between the attempted robbery location and the school.

Friday afternoon detectives arrested two male juveniles, age 11 and 12, and charged them with first degree robbery.
