PLAYER CHARGED: Palo Facing Sexual Assault Charges
An Iowa State Basketball Player turned himself in to authorities Friday morning.
Twenty one year old Bubu Palo, along with another Ames man, Spencer Cruise, 21, were wanted on second degree sexual abuse charges stemming from a May incident.
Both men turned themselves in and are being held on $25,000 bond. An initial hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. today in Story County.
A statement from the ISU athletics department says Palo has been suspended indefinitely for violating the discipline policy. Head Coach Fred Hoiberg said, “I am extremely disappointed to learn of this allegation.”
Palo originally walked on to the team, before earning a scholarship in the second semester of last season. He played in 21 games and averaged 4.0 points per game in 2011-12.
