DROWNING DEATH: Linn County Toddler Dies

A toddler is dead after he drowned in his family’s swimming pool Saturday in eastern Iowa.

Authorities were called to a home in the 900 block of County Home Road in Whittier around 2:30 p.m. Saturday on a report of a possible drowning.

When they arrived, two-year-old Aaron Rickles was being taken out of the swimming pool behind the home. The child was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital but wasn’t able to be revived.

Authorities believe the drowning was an accident but the investigation into the incident continues.
