ATV CRASH: Child Injured, Father Charged

An Urbandale father faces charges of driving drunk and child endangerment following an ATV crash.

Police say the incident happened Saturday on private property in West Des Moines. Thirty-two-year-old Andrew Stamatelos told police he and his seven-year-old daughter were thrown from the ATV after he hit a cement sewer pipe on the side of the road. Police say they weren’t wearing helmets.

Stamatelos blood alcohol level was measured at .104 during a breath test at the scene. The legal driving limit is .08.

The girl was taken to the hospital with several broken bones that required surgery.
