The Des Moines school board is beginning the next phase of its superintendent search.

The former superintendent, Dr. Nancy Sebring resigned amid an e-mail scandal in May. Tom Ahart is serving as the current interim superintendent.

The board is currently reviewing proposals for search firms. The board issued a request for proposals last month and four firms responded.

The firms include two from Illinois, one from Nebraska and one from Iowa.

The board is currently reviewing their proposals and will announce a selection during the October 2nd board meeting.
