SUSPECT ARREST: Alleged Credit Union Robber Caught
After a short chase Tuesday, Des Moines police arrested a man wanted for robbing the same credit union twice.
The EDCO Community Credit Union at 609 38th Street was robbed on August 1st and August 29th. Police identified 41-year-old Keith Schwartz as a suspect in the robberies and warrants had been issued for his arrest.
Detectives were working with a patrol officer Tuesday afternoon to try to locate Schwartz. He was spotted in a vehicle at 24th and Maury St. and when police tried to pull him over he tried to get away. About 10 blocks away Schwartz struck a fence at Maury St. and Astor. He tried to flee on foot but was apprehended by officers.
Schwartz was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries received in the accident. Following his release he’ll be transported to the Polk County Jail.
He faces two charges of second degree robbery.
