Former president Jimmy Carter is in Des Moines Thursday, but it’s not to show his support for a presidential candidate.

President Carter and his wife Rosalynn are delivering the Bucksbaum Lecture Thursday night at Drake University.

The two will talk about their work with the Carter Center in the area of human rights and international public policy. President Carter received a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for their work with the center.

The Carters’ lecture begins at 7:00 p.m. and is being held at the Knapp Center.

The event is free and open to the public.
