FOOD BANK: Iowa Egg Council Makes Donation

The Food Bank of Iowa received a big donation Thursday morning.

The Iowa Egg Council donated more than 285,000 eggs in honor of September being Hunger Action month. The eggs are from Iowa farmers and will be delivered to low income families.

The Food Bank of Iowa says eggs are important in fighting hunger because of the high nutrition value and how they can be used for different types of meals

“It’s so versatile. So low income families that will be receiving these eggs they are a great addition, they can use them for any time for any meal,” says Carey Miller, Director of the Food Bank of Iowa.

Last year the Food Bank of Iowa delivered more than eight million pounds of food.
