NEW DIGS: Location Change For Des Moines Register
After questions about where the Des Moines Register would move, the paper has finally secured a new home.
The Des Moines Register called its downtown building home for decades. The company owns the building at 715 Locust but part of the land it sits on is leased. The Register only owns three of the five parcels occupied by the building. The lease on the rest of the land was up earlier this year.
While negotiating, the paper decided find a new home, and Monday it announced a location had been found.
The Register will now move three blocks down Locust into an 86,000 square foot space in Capitol Square.
The Register says the existing building will now go up for sale.
Operations will be moved to the new location sometime in February or March.
