Southeast Polk School District’s activities director is on administrative leave after being arrested Saturday for allegedly driving drunk.

Fifty-two-year-old Kent Horstmann of Altoona is charged with first offense OWI. He was pulled over on 8th St. near Hubbell after a Polk County Deputy noticed his vehicle swerving. The deputy noticed Horstmann had bloodshot and watery eyes and was slurring his speech.

Horstmann failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Polk County Jail where his blood alcohol content was tested. He blew a .169 on a breathalyzer. The legal limit is .08.

Horstmann was then booked into the Polk County Jail but he has since bonded out.

Superintendent of the Southeast Polk School District Craig Menozzi says Horstmann has been placed on paid leave pending an investigation into the incident. Menozzi expects the investigation to last about three days before a decision is made in the case.
