Crews begin an extensive cleanup project at the Governor’s mansion Monday — removing black mold from Terrace Hill.

First Lady Chris Branstad complained this summer of not feeling well. Crews later found the mold on the third floor living quarters.

The first and second floors are clear of mold.

Gov. Terry Branstad and the First Lady have been out of the mansion since early August and won’t return until the cleanup project is complete.

The original construction of Terrace Hill was completed in 1869.
