FARM BILL: Time Running Out For Vote
Iowa congressman Tom Latham says signing a petition to force a vote on the 2012 Farm Bill may not be enough.
Congressman Bruce Braley introduced the petition last week. If he can get 50-percent of the U.S. House to sign on, the bill would have to come up for a vote.
Congressman Latham has signed it but says it’s likely too late for the bill to come up for a vote before Congress goes into recess for the elections.
The Farm Bill expires at the end of the month and Congress won’t return until late November.
Republican Steve King is the only Iowa congressman that hasn’t signed the petition. King’s office has not returned our calls for comment.
