FARM BILL: No Discussion Until After Election
Thursday, House Speaker John Boehner confirmed, the farm bill won’t be discussed until after the November election.
Boehner says he doesn’t have the votes to pass an extension or a new five-year bill. Because of the delay, a variety of programs in the current bill will expire on October 1st.
The most controversial impact has to do with cuts to the supplemental nutrition assistance program, formerly known as food stamps.
