FUNDRAISING THRILL: Rappelling For Good Cause
Dozens of people went Over the Edge for charity in downtown Des Moines Wednesday.
Fifty people rappelled from the top of the Financial Center downtown — 345 feet to the ground.
Participants had to raise at least $1,000 for Special Olympics Iowa to have the honor of doing the high-rise rappel. They say it’s a lot of emotion — all within a few seconds
“It was breathtaking at the top, riveting at the bottom, and a whole lot of nervous in between,” says participant Cami Jo Howrey.
This is the third year of the extreme fundraiser for Special Olympics Iowa.
