HOUSE FIRE: Des Moines Family Displaced
Firefighters battled an early morning house fire in Des Moines Thursday.
It wasn’t a big fire but a family is out of their home because of the damage.
The fire broke out around 5:00 a.m. at a home on 10th Street just north of University. Crews found a lot of smoke when they got there. They were able to get the fire out quickly.
Firefighters say it was an electrical fire.
The Red Cross is helping the family find a new place to stay for now.
Crews had to close down University Avenue for a short time in order to run hose across the street, but it has been reopened.
