EARLY VOTING: Some Choosing Absentee Ballot
Polk County’s top election official and his staff are gearing up for early voting to begin.
The ballots are being printed in the basement of the election office. The auditor’s staff is monitoring the process and double checking that voters get the right ballot.
Jamie Fitzgerald says the ballots go out next Thursday, which is the first day of early voting.
Fitzgerald says 30 percent more absentee ballots are requested this year compared to four years ago.
“We think there’s an enthusiasm by both parties both presidential campaigns, couple congressional campaigns so we are really seeing big enthusiasm that we didn’t see four years ago,” says Fitzgerald.
You can also vote absentee, in person or just go to your auditor’s office during regular business hours.
That option will be available beginning next Thursday, September 27th.
