POWER PLANT: Two Potential Sites Unveiled

According to the Des Moines Register, MidAmerican Energy confirmed two potential sites for Iowa’s second nuclear plant. 

The company announced Friday that they are considering Fremont and Muscatine counties for the new plant

A spokesperson for MidAmerican says they haven’t definitively decided to build the plant yet, they are currently holding meetings to let landowners know that MidAmerican would be drilling soil cores in several locations as part of the site selection work.  

Groups opposed to the plant say it’s because in the past, MidAmerican has pushed legislation that would shift the financial risk from the company to customers.
