KEEPING COOL: Donations Helped Keep Metro Families Cool

The Des Moines Fire Departments say a record effort helped keep Iowans cool this summer.

People donated over 100 air conditioners and fans to Des Moines Fire Departments.  The units went to the community action center for distribution.

Fire officials say it was especially important this year due to the hot temperatures.

Authorities say the station at Hubbell and Easton Avenue collected the most.
