Winter is just around the corner and this year Des Moines can expect a new snow plow ordinance.

Monday, the council is expected to end the current policy from 1984 and approve a new one.

The new policy will allow the city to use larger, winged plows on city streets.  The plows can clear streets in two passes instead of three.  City officials say it’ll save time and money.

In turn there will be more restrictions on where drivers can park when it snows.
