CHEAP GAS: PAC Fills Tanks In Ames

Some Iowans had the chance to fill up their gas tanks for half the price Tuesday.

Political action committee Americans for Prosperity” is crossing the country, filling up drivers’ tanks for just $1.84 a gallon. That’s the average price for a gallon of regular gas the day before President Obama took office.

Americans For Prosperity was pumping cheap gas Tuesday in Ames at the Kum and Go on Mortenson Road.

The deal began at 11:00 a.m. and goes through 1:00 p.m. but only the first 150 vehicles are getting the cheaper gas. There is a 15 gallon maximum.

While “Americans for Prosperity” places the blame for high gas prices on the President, Others say the men behind the advocacy group are to blame.

The primary backers of “Americans for Prosperity” are billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch.

Much of their fortune is tied to oil and gas production.

Obama campaign officials have accused the Koch brothers of speculating in the oil market, driving up the price of gas.
