HARASSMENT CASE: New Trial Motion Denied
Dunkerton’s mayor and his nephew have been sentenced following their harassment convictions for an incident involving a traffic stop in December.
Mayor Mike Schares and Thomas Adamson were sentenced Monday and ordered to each pay a $350 fine and court costs and fees. Schares also filed a motion calling for a new trial but it was denied.
The harassment charges stemmed from a traffic stop involving Adamson’s wife. A Dunkerton police officer pulled over a vehicle driven by Adamson’s wife for speeding and Adamson called his uncle, the mayor, to the scene to contest the speeding ticket.
Schares and Adamson still have the option of appealing the sentence.
