NEW CASINO: Urbandale Leaders Consider Proposal
Iowa’s gaming industry is one of the state’s biggest employers and it could soon get even bigger.
Urbandale City leaders say they are discussing a proposal to build a $150 million casino and hotel complex in the area.
They met with representatives of a development group that operates casinos in Clinton and Emmetsburg.
Officials say the complex would likely be built North of Interstate 35-80.
Polk County Officials doubt the project will happen at all partly because a public vote would likely be needed.
The last time the state’s racing and gaming commission approved a casino license was in May 2010. That cleared the way for a casino project in Lyon county.
