OIL SPILL: Clean-Up Work Almost Done
The Iowa DNR says an oil spill on the North Raccoon River is just about cleaned up.
The spill started earlier this month with a faulty valve on a tank storing used oil at a Jefferson greenhouse.
The Iowa DNR teamed up with the EPA to get a handle on the 15,000 gallon spill.
Authorities say while their job is mostly done, booms will remain in place to prevent the small amounts of oil left from going down stream. Officials are asking people not to mess with the booms while they are in the water.
