ERIN OFF CAMERA: Emmy Night!
What a weekend!
A lot of Des Moines TV types spent Saturday night in Minneapolis, celebrating the Midwest Emmys. I didn’t take as many pictures as I should have, but I did a better job than last year…
This is our boss – Rod Peterson. He’s the reason we all get to do the kind of work we love and also the reason Channel 13 had 18 nominations!
Lynn’s date was her little brother, David – he is studying internal medicine at the University of Minnesota. He’s brilliant AND very sweet.
Here’s my date … also brilliant and sweet and funny.
Randy and Megan – we’re lucky to have this husband/wife team at WHO!
Shannon and Dan … they always make me say, “Awwwwwwwww!”
This is 5 o’clock producer Kelly Kasparie – we won best newscast!!! Few people outside this crazy business understand how many people it takes to get a show on the air … this list includes some (but not all) of them:
Holly Peters, Director
Ed Wilson, Meteorologist
Matt Baker, Assignment Manager
Randy Cole Editor
Dave Price, Reporter
Megan Reuther, Reporter
Jannay Towne, Reporter
Dan Winters, Reporter
Mike Borland, Photographer
Jeff Felton, Photographer
Eric Gooden, Photographer
Eli Gardiner, Photographer
Dave Olson, Photographer
Trent Reicks, Photographer
Roger Riley, Photographer
Lee Rouse, Photographer
Photojournalist Brandon McCauley and Andy Fales won an Emmy for their reporting from the Kentucky Derby. Keith Murphy and Chris Hassel also received an Emmy for best sportscast.
I love this picture of Michael and KCCI’s Todd Magel together – they are both total gear heads and stood there talking about cars like a couple of high school boys. Todd walked away with two Emmys – one for breaking news and one for weekend newscast.
Congratulations, everyone!
