It’s been more than a month since a Des Moines K-9 officer died but police say the investigation into the dog’s death is still incomplete.

Police say Officer Brian Mathis left his dog Harley in the car on a day when temperatures approached 90-degrees. When he returned, Harley was dead.

Police spokesperson Chris Scott says an extensive investigation is underway, which includes reviewing policies and checking the patrol car technology.

As of now, no charges or disciplinary action has been determined.
