CIRCUS ACT: Elephants In Nollen Plaza

Three Asian elephants named Caroll, Dutches and Patty had brunch at Nollen Plaza Thursday afternoon.

And they eat pretty healthy.  The meal consisted of fruits and vegetables.

The elephants are visiting Des Moines as part of the Ringling Brothers “Barnum Bash”.

While the elephants will be exciting, there will also be death defying acrobats.

You have to be pretty tough to be a part of that show.

So we decided to try it out.

Sounds smart, right?

The next “workout of the week” on Tuesday will be from the circus.

Our “coaches” are two of the ladies who make their living flying high, including Jodie Urias.  Jodie joined the circus when she was in college because she didn’t know what she wanted to do.  Now she’s logged more than two decades with the show.

You can meet Jodie and the other performers if you get to the show an hour early.

Make sure you tune in Tuesday at 5:00. You’ll get a good laugh as Sonya and Erin try some circus moves.
