PEDESTRIAN KILLED: Man Hit By SUV Identified

Des Moines police have released the name of a man killed Thursday night after he was struck by an SUV.

Police say 60-year-old Andrew Hudak of Des Moines was trying to cross Martin Luther King Pkwy in the 1900 block from the east when he was hit by an SUV traveling north on MLK. The accident happened around 8:20 p.m.

Hudak was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, James Hall, does not face any charges in the case yet. Police say there’s no evidence to suspect Hall was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Speed is also not believed to have played a role.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
