CANCER CLIMB: Group Of Iowans Climb Peak

Beating cancer is a daunting task, and so is climbing a mountain.  Soon a group of Iowans will say they’ve done both.

Nineteen cancer survivors and 17 supporters are on the downhill slope of a mountain in Nepal.  The group reached the 20,000 foot peak on Saturday.  It was the tallest of three peaks the group climbed.

Mercy Medical Director, Doctor Richard Deming is leading the three-week climb.  He’s the founder of Above and Beyond Cancer, an Iowa based group that takes cancer survivors on physically and mentally demanding trips.

The group is expected back home Friday evening.
