OCCUPY ANNIVERSARY: Group Marks One Year
This weekend, Des Moines’ Occupy group hit the streets to mark one year of the movement.
A handful of people marched down Grand Avenue and up to the Governor’s mansion, then back downtown.
The small group spoke about corporate control holding back the government and the community. Members wanted to spend their anniversary reaching out to the community so more people can get involved.
They say their message is being heard.
“I think that fact that we are changing what politicians are talking about, what are leaders are talking about, I think we have a long way to go, but I think we’ve started the conversation,” says occupier Marti Doyle.
