DRUG DROP: Thousands Of Pounds Of Drugs Collected

Authorities say Iowans disposed of over two tons of unused medicines last month.

The one-day prescription drug take-back event was held Saturday, September 29th.

Across the state people safely got rid of almost 4,400 pounds of drugs at 40 collection sites.

Authorities say that included prescription and controlled substances.

Nationally, the US Drug Enforcement Administration says about 488,000 pounds of unused medicines were collected.
