There are more than 5,700 convicted sex offenders on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.
A new Iowa service called “Offender Watch” allows Iowans to keep tabs on them.
It sends victims automatic notification via phone or text when an offender moves. The program also allows anyone to create “watch areas” around cities, counties or zip codes. Then, if a sex offender moves into your area, you’ll get a notification.
The new mobile notifications are an addition to the old system that sent out e-mails.
