SMART VISIT: Abduction Victim Speaks In Des Moines

Elizabeth Smart is in Des Moines Thursday advocating for change in child abduction laws and programs.

Smart was abducted from her family’s home in Utah 10 years ago at the age of 14. She was held prisoner for nine months and sexually abused before being reunited with her family.

Thursday morning, Smart speaks on behalf of the Regional Child Protection Center at Blank Children’s Hospital. 

Thursday night at 7:00, she’ll speak at a fundraiser at Hoyt Sherman Place. Tickets are $30 and available through Hoyt Sherman. There’s also a VIP reception with a chance to meet Smart for $100.
