FATAL ACCIDENT: Teen’s Car Hit By Train

A western Iowa teen is dead after her car was hit by a train Sunday.

The Iowa State Patrol says 16-year-old Cailey Berndt of Little Sioux was traveling west on 125^th Street in Harrison County around noon Sunday when she didn’t stop for a northbound Union Pacific train. Her car was struck and landed in the Harrison/Monona waterway.

Berndt was taken by air ambulance to the University of Nebraska Medical Center but died of her injuries.
