VICTIM SERVICES: Plan Change Meetings Underway
The state is planning to change Iowa’s victims’ service programs due to budget cuts.
Before they’re implemented, officials want your opinion on the proposal. It splits the state into six regions, with each region having its own programs.
Experts say rural areas will likely suffer with this proposal.
State officials say the changes are due to years of federal and state budget cuts. In the last several years more than $1.6 million was chopped from the budget.
The first meetings are being held Monday in eastern Iowa.
There is one in Ames on October 24th and one in Des Moines on October 29th.
