PERFECT PLAN: Welcome Home Ceremony Proposal

DES MOINES, Ia. — An Airman returning to Iowa from service in southeast Asia Wednesday was happy to be home and put a plan seven months in the making into play.

Master Sergeant Rick Day, a member of the 132nd Fighter Wing, enlisted the help of his friends and family back at home to help him execute his plan to ask girlfriend Billie Edwards to marry him.

Master Sgt. Day says he was more nervous Wednesday than he’s been in the past seven months. He’s been working on his engagement plans from 8,000 miles away, and Wednesday Edwards said “yes”.

But there was a small hitch in his plan.

“I did get down on the wrong knee…apparently Google says you need to get to get down on the left knee and I got down on the right knee…so. I kind of knew there was gonna be some glitch in the whole thing but if that’s the smallest of the glitches that we have then fantastic,” says Day.
