APPEAL DENIED: Murder Conviction Stands

The Iowa Supreme Court is upholding the first degree murder conviction of a Jesup man.

The court issued its ruling Friday, decided to rejected Lynn Lamasters’ appeal.

He is serving a life sentence for the murder of his girlfriend, Patricia Rapacki, whose body was found in a freezer on January 12^th, 2004. She had last been seen alive in late December of 2003.

Lamasters says his attorney should have presented an insanity defense in his 2005 trial.

The court disagreed, saying Lamasters’ elaborate attempts to cover up the murder are among the reasons the court does not support his claim.
