FUNERAL SERVICES: State Senator Honored

Flags are flying at half-staff across Iowa for a State Senator who lost her battle with breast cancer this week.

Friday, those she touched celebrated her life at the Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ.

State leaders, family members and friends attended Friday morning’s service.

There, Ward was characterized as a natural leader, someone who worked well with everyone.

Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds spoke about Ward, saying Ward helped her when she was a freshman in the Senate.

Ward was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and dog-owner.
