An Ogden man is facing first degree murder charges after authorities say he killed his wife.
Around 10 this morning, crews were called to 101 West Cherry Street in Ogden. When police arrived they found 28-year-old Josh Powell waiting outside.
Authorities went inside the home to find 25-year-old Jacalyn Powell dead.
Authorities say when they questioned Powell he admitted to getting into a fight and killing his wife the night before.
The release from DCI reported, “Joshua Powell said that during the fight, he intentionally struck Jaclyn Powell resulting in Jaclyn Powell’s death. Joshua Powell stated that he checked Jaclyn Powell’s pulse and she did not have one. Joshua Powell fled the scene and returned the next morning when he called 911.”
Powell is now charged with first degree murder. He is being held at the Boone County jail on $2 million bond.
The state medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy on Jaclyn Powell on Monday.
